Mirissa

Situated on the Colombo-Matara road 4 km South-Eeast of Weligama, Mirissa is a beautiful small rocky beach which is calm and relaxing and the Seas off the coast of Mirissa offers a once in a life time opportunity for visitors as it is currently becoming a major hotspot for spotting Whales and Dolphins. The main port of Sri Lanka for watching Whales and Dolphins is Dondra Point of Down south because it is located close to their migration path. Deep Sea Fishing and Snorkeling are activities you could do while you travel in Mirissa. Its headland separates its small fishing harbor from its beautiful curvy sandy beach with clam, clear waters. Mirissa is very famous for Whale Watching.

Mirissa is regarded as one of the country’s most beautiful beaches and is an alternative for quieter place compared to Unawatuna or Hikkaduwa.

Nilaweli

Nilaweli Situated at a distance of 271 km from Colombo- is a prime beach resort on the East Coast. 4 km. North of Trincomalee. Nilaveli was the venue for the 1985 International Fun board Championships. The beach has ample Water Sports facilities including Fishing and Sea angling.  WhaleWatching in the sanctuary is a specialty. Pigeon Island, a ten-minute boat ride from the Nilaveli beach, Nilaweli is an ideal place for Skiing and Diving, or to just to to Sun Bath. A few meters from the coast is a small rocky island good for Snorkeling. Typical Weather is Warm & Sunny.

Unawatuna

Unawatuna, near Galle is a Beautiful wide curving Golden Beach. The beach has been acclaimed amongst 12 best beaches in the World. There is a reef protecting the beach, which makes it safe for bathing. Rumasssala, a rocky outcrop projecting into the sea at Unawatuna is connected to the legend of Ramayana. It is believed to be a piece of mountain fell when Lord Hanuman brought a mountain to Sri Lanka in search of a medicinal herb to treat Laxamana-Rama’s brother wounded in battle. The serene surroundings and the Dutch architecture add to the charm of the place.

Unawatuna is a one of the best Diving locations in Sri Lanka. It is a famous beach for Scuba Diving, Surfing and Sea Foods in Sri Lankan style. Typical Weather is Warm & Sunny.

Kalpitiya

The Kalpitiya peninsular is one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya is one of the best locations in the World for watching Dolphins and ideal place for Scuba Diving and Snorkeling.

Kalpitiya located 130 km north of katunayaka Airport, is an exquisite coastal region located in the Western coastal belt north of Colombo. Kalpitiya is a peninsula set in between the deep lagoon of Puttalama to the east and Indian Ocean to the west. Kalpitiya is an unrivalled marine sanctuary with a diversity of habitats ranging from bar reefs, flat coastal plains, saltpans, mangroves swamps, salt marshes and vast sand dune beaches.

The 14 islands of Battalangunduwa, Palliyawatta, Vellai I, Vellai II, Vellai III, Uchchamunai, Ippantivu, Periya Arichchalai, Sinna Arichchalai, Eramutivu, Sinna Eramutivu, Eramutivu West, Kakativu and Mutwal (Dutch Bay) together make up 1673 hectares of land.

Kalpitiya peninsula

48 km long and 6-8 km wide- is studded with fine sandy beaches. In addition to the Kalpitiya peninsula, 14 islands about Kalpitiya are encompassed in the Kalpitiya tourist development project envisaged in year 2008.

Kalpitiya Dolphins

Kalpitiya, that affords the opportunity to view large pods of Dolphins often numbers running to hundreds, is becoming a celebrated location in Sri Lanka for lovers of Spinner Dolphins.

Kalpitiya Whales

Kalpitiya is known for its presence of Sperm Whales and an occasional Blue Whale alone is a world class attraction of marine life. Whales are regularly seen around the Kalpitiya Peninsula. Interestingly it was only from around February 2010 that Kalpitiya is finally considered as a destination to catch the sight of the majestic whale. Boat trips are regularly taken off Kalpitiya Peninsula to a off-shore site to catch the sights of Sperm whales, the largest toothed whale in the world, can be seen off-shore of the reef. The Sperm Whale, in the hunt of Giant Squid, dives several hundred meters in the ocean. Kalpitiya Peninsula with its continental shelf provides an ideal habitat for the Sperm Whale.

Boat rides up the lagoon and canoe trips down the river are a pleasant way of exploring the coastline, whilst 4WD jeep rides along the deserted sand dunes between the ocean and the lagoon offer a unique way of watching the colorful evening sunsets.

Arugambay

Arugambay is located 320 km from Colombo at the ‘end of the road’ on the East Coast of Sri Lanka.If you are after remote rural getaway with all the atmosphere of jungle and adventure this is the place for you. There is no thoroughfare through this village, and once there it is very hard to leave! Arugam Bay is a place for Surfers, Water sports freaks and Wildlife aficionados. Unfortunately Arugam Bay is on its way to become a major tourist destination, so you better hurry up while it’s still laidback and original.

Arugam Bay is the best Surfing locations in the Country and listed as one of the top ten Surf points in the World. The East coast offers infinite possibilities for all kinds of water sports and underwater photography. The many ship-wrecks off the coast are a tempting challenge to divers.

Whether you want to dine on the beach in view of the sea or watch the world pass by from a sidewalk cafe, the cuisine of Arugam Bay offers just what you’re looking for. A stroll along Main Street will take you past many traditional Sri Lankan restaurants serving some of the best rice and curry on the island.

Kalkudah Beach, Pasikudah Bay

Two maiden beaches that are located 35 km from Baticaloa and 282 km from Colombo. Pasikudah is a natural bay by protected by the Sea and resembles a natural, Shallow Pool.
These beaches are the ultimate call for all the travelers in search of some relaxation combined with some exciting action. Whether you want to try out some amazing sport activity like SnorkelingWind surfing or skiing or just bask in the sun along the beaches of Sri Lanka, this place offers everything for everyone. Recently discovered these beaches have caught many  visitors in awe with its natural beauty. Especially the Kalkudah beach on the east coast is now regarded as being among the most stunning beaches in Sri Lanka.

The combined beaches of Kalkudah and Pasikudah are ideal for bathing as the sea is clear, calm and protected by reefs, the beach is adorned with coconut palms is truly one of the finest stretches of beach in the east coast of Sri Lanka, thus no wonder it also emerges as one the most popular tourist destinations. The beach also houses a varied number of exotic Tropical Fishes and Coral Reefs. The combined area of Kalkudah and Pasikudah was declared as the National Holiday resort in 1973.

Bentota

Bentota is located in the South of the Country, 62 km from Colombo. Bentota is a popular city amongst tourists eager to enjoy the beautiful beaches that Sri Lanka has to offer. There are many large luxury hotels in the area and a few boutique hotels that all promise to be a comfortable ‘home away from home’ as you enjoy the sand and surf. Located 98km South of Colombo. Hikkaduwa is one of the most popular beach resorts of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s only marine sanctuary is located here. It is an ideal place for abundant Corals and Tropical FishesHikkaduwa has something to offer to everyone, Coral for Snorkelers, Waves for surfers and white pristine beaches for those who want to relax and enjoy the Sun & Sand.

Hikkaduwa – Coral Sanctuary

The large shallow body of water is enclosed by a reef, decorated with layers of multi colored corals it is home to a countless number of colorful Coral Fish, Lobsters, Large Turtles and Microscopic Marine creatures. Approximately 200m away from the beach there is a collection of tiny islets that are surrounded by beautiful coral formations. The four different shipwrecks waiting to be explored are a treat for the diving enthusiasts. The Corals are located only 4m below water, therefore can be easily accessed by novice divers; however if diving is too adventurous visitors could take a trip on a glass bottomed boat to enjoy the beauty of the Coral Sanctuary
