Hambantota is located 238km from Colombo on the South-Eastern coast. Hambantota, which is in the Sri Lanka dry zone, is best known for its Beautiful Crescent- Shaped Bay and its salt pans, a very ancient industry, that is still thriving. The Slat Pans line the main road for over 16km.

The Magampura Port is a maritime Port in Hambantota. It will be Sri Lanka’s Largest Port, once fully finished. The Port of Hambantota will service ships travelling among one of world’s most busiest shipping lines – the East-West shipping route which passes 6 to 10 nautical miles (19km) south of Hambantota.
